Holiday Gifts for Employees

By Kaitlin Hurtado on December 14, 2021

While the end of the year typically brings plenty of joy as the holidays get into full swing, it can also be plenty of stress both personally and professionally. Not only are employees planning out the last of their holiday and vacation plans and dealing with whatever’s going on in their personal lives, but they are also likely busy at work dealing with wrapping up projects and tasks due at month-end and year-end. That being said, the holidays are the perfect opportunity to show appreciation for your hardworking employees by giving out holiday gifts. No matter how much you can afford in terms of budget, time, and effort, a holiday gift can go a long way in showing your employees that you appreciate them.

Not sure what to give your employees as a gift this holiday season? Keep reading for ideas on holiday gifts that will have your employees smiling and feeling appreciated.

Working from home gifts

If your company is one of the many companies still working from home, or at least working with a hybrid approach, gifts relating to working from home can be the perfect useful holiday gift for your employees.

Gift your employees some personalized stationery, which could be helpful for employees that have been working from home for a long time, completely depleting their stash of post-it notes and notepads from when they first left the office during the pandemic.

Create a “working from home survival kit” full of goodies that your employees can practice some stress-relief and self-care from, including:

- Aromatherapy: Essential oil diffuser and essential oils

- Scented candle

- Stress toys/puzzles they can keep on their desks

- Coloring books with markers and colored pencils

- Face masks for a pick-me-up

As you have checked in with your employees over the course of the pandemic, you have surely heard plenty of their working from home struggles and what kind of products would provide the perfect solution. Not enough desk space? A raised monitor/laptop stand they can use to free up desk space underneath and provide storage. Tangled cables? A cable organizer or a charging hub for their various chargers. Too much background noise? Noise-canceling headphones or earbuds. A weak mic or low-quality camera for audio and video calls? A new headset or plug-in web camera.

Another great holiday gift that employees working from home can appreciate is a heating/massage pad. Depending on which you choose, the pad can be designed to be wrapped around their neck or placed directly on the back of their chair. Employees can work comfortably with these pads, easing points of tension as they spend hours sitting at their desks.

In-office gifts or perks

If your team is working straight from the office, gift them something they can use while they are at the workplace.

For example, you can deck out the break room with a refreshed coffee station. If budget allows, snag a new Keurig or espresso machine that are typically always on sale throughout the holiday season. If your budget is a bit more limited, stock up the breakroom with some inclusions employees can use to spice up their regular drip coffees, such as flavored syrups and powders. Top off the gift with mugs for each employee. Get creative and personalize the mugs if you can, from a phrase your team always goes by, their names, or their favorite interests.

If you aren’t able to necessarily gift something tangible to your employees this holiday season, you can still offer a gift in some form. Give them a floating holiday, or a day or two they can use to call out of work when they choose to. The extra vacation time is something many employees can appreciate.

Food gifts/gift baskets

You can’t really go wrong with food gifts or baskets for holiday gifts. During the holiday season, you will surely be able to find great deals on pre-made food gift baskets from in-store and online retails that you can even have delivered straight to your employees’ homes if everyone is still working from home.

Or, you can go the extra mile by personalizing food gift baskets for each employee, depending on how well you know them and your personalized tastes. Fill the baskets with some of their favorite snacks, dry goods like sausages and crackers, and candy.

If your employees are avid coffee or tea drinkers, put together a basket of essentials they can use to make their perfect cup, including:

- Coffee beans/grounds or tea bags/leaves

- Syrups/sweeteners and powders

- Mug(s)

If you are working in the office, treat everyone to a meal and use the opportunity as a time to reconnect outside of work.

You don’t have to break your budget to give out the perfect holiday gift. With these ideas in mind, hopefully, the gift-giving season will be a little easier this year. Happy holidays!
